Richard Elson
What a pleasure it was to be in roy bird's literature class. Even though it was 10 or 15 years ago, I remember his wit, intelligence, compassion very clearly. My relationship with him was limited to that one class, but he remembered me when we'd bump into each other subsequently, and I always felt--both in class and out--that he truly cared about me as a human being. He was a good man, and we are all a little worse off without him.
